Srinagar, Nov 30 (KNO): Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dr Jitendra Singh on Monday said that situation in J&K was never such peaceful in last three decades as it was after abrogation of article 370. He also said that PDP and NC must be thankful to BJP as “we fulfilled the autonomy and self-rule dream of regional parties by conducting first ever DDC polls after over seven decades.” Addressing BJP workers in Khanabal, area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Dr Jitendra Singh said after abrogation of article 370, J&K was on way of development and in coming years people will see change everywhere in J&K. Lashing out at NC, PDP and other regional parties, the MoS PMO said that that despite ruling J&K for decades, these parties kept people deprived of Panchayat Raj, block councils and district councils. “In true sense, autonomy and self-rule is to provide an opportunity to local youth to come forward and work for your development at local level yourself which we are providing them by conducting DDC elections, for what NC and PDP must remain thankful as we are implementing their agenda in true sense,” he said as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said that if parliament took a decision on August 05 which was against the will of people, then why MPs of NC and PDP didn’t resign to show their resentment. “Why these parties boycotted last Panchayat and BDC elections and said that we won’t fight elections till August 05 (2019) decision is revered, then how they came forward to fight DDC elections,” he questioned. “It means that these parties want to keep power with themselves and don't want development at grassroots level.” He said: “I am sure that youth of J&K will come forward and lead J&K to new heights of development by taking part in DDC elections. We want to make sure that every citizen of J&K is enjoying basic rights like common Indian is enjoying.”—(KNO)
